Here is information about characters in the book that has been received since publication.


"This was Auntie Marie (Mrs Northwood) who lived in Iron Lane. She was a lovely, gentle, modest woman. Her son (who, although he was very tall, was known as Little Alfie) was a well-known local singer."

This was William Billingsley. He lived with his son, Ken. He died in the early 80s and was almost 102. William loved to knit and often knitted socks and blankets. He was a real character. He loved to cook curries.


This man's nick name was Sheppy. He lived in a small house on Brecon Road. He was a hard drinking man and was friendly with Malcolm the hatchet man who died after jumping off the viaduct at Cefn Coed.

The baby in the photographed was tracked down by a National newspaper. His name is Justin James. He now lives in London and works Internationally as a computer programmer.
This was Ellen Davies and she was photographed outside her home at No1 Winchfawr
This man was Steve Williams and he lived just north of the Norton in Penydarren, in the houses that have recently been demolished. He worked for Merthyr Engineering, grinding pins for the excavator Company Hymac who were based in Rhymney. He had 2 children, a boy and a girl.
